Palacký University is the third largest university in Czechia, and a major university in Central Europe according to ARWU 2021 (701-800). It was founded in the 16th century and today it’s a modern higher education institution with a wide range of study areas and research activities. UP is also a holder of the HR Award (since 2021). The university has 8 faculties.

The Faculty of Arts has 24 departments providing up-to-date equipment and a modernized infrastructure (library and Training Centre). (This project) will be hosted by the Department of Asian Studies. The project team will have access to all research facilities, including the most advanced cloud computing solutions. Other support services include: Legal support from HR Department and the Law Department; financial monitoring and controlling provided by the Economic Department; Open Access and research ethics experts; support on communication and dissemination activities (Fort Science UP); library resources and access to databases.

UP currently implements several projects funded by EU Operational Programmes (3 OP “Excellence in Research”, 1 OP “Teams of Excellence”, and 2 OP “Pre-application Research for ITI” projects) and Horizon Europe. A total of 22 projects have been funded within Horizon 2020 at UP.
